Telecom Plus Takes on more staff!

Multi-utility provider Telecom Plus is to double its 387-strong headcount over the next three years as customer acquisition rates continue to soar on the back of the recession.
Management says that third-quarter trading was "exceptionally strong" with customer numbers rising by 19,000 to 258,840 and the number of services provided by the group up by 64,902 to 723,427. Cash flow remained buoyant, with the group holding net cash of £36.4m by the end of the quarter allowing management to comfortably reiterate their commitment to pay a full-year dividend of at least 17.5p.
The outlook remains positive, with the group signing a record number of new distributors, and with existing distributors carrying out greater activity. Management said that customers had a tendency to be more receptive to switching utility providers in the current woeful economic climate.

Comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders will be part of a viral marketing campaign for Telecom Plus as the multi-utility group looks to further boost its record growth rates.
The group said trading during the third quarter was exceptionally strong reflecting a continuation of the positive trends which have been developing over the last 18 months.
"Turnover, profits, customer numbers, new services and new distributor recruitment have all been running substantially ahead of the comparable figures at this time last year," said the group.
The group said its growth trend is creating significant job opportunities and plans to more than double the current number of full-time employees over the next three years. Its total headcount is 387 at the end of December.
Telecom Plus has launched a viral marketing campaign with a series of videos featuring Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.
It says this will give its distributors a new way of promoting it services, by sending potential customers an email which contains a direct link to these videos. "We anticipate this will provide a further boost to the record growth rates now being achieved," added the group.
Customer numbers increased by 19,082 to 258,840 during the quarter, and the number of services provided rose by almost 65,000 to 723,427 (31 December 2007: 568,742).
During the same period, the number of Distributors promoting its services increased by over 4,000 to 23,773.
"We anticipate continuing strong organic growth over the coming months," said the group.
Telecom Plus also announced the appointment of Chris Houghton as finance director with immediate effect.

LONDON, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Utility services group Telecom plus Plc (TEP.L) said on Tuesday that its annual performance is in line with market expectations and that it plans to double its workforce over the next three years.
It said third-quarter trading was "exceptionally strong" and that turnover, profits, and customer numbers are substantially ahead of the the year-earlier figures.
In contrast to many companies that have cut staff numbers as a result of the economic downturn, Telecom plus said it added more than 90 staff in the first nine months of the financial year to take its total headcount to 387 at the end of December.
It also said finance director Richard Hateley will leave the company and that Chris Houghton, who joined the group as head of finance last September, has been appointed finance director with immediate effect.
